Konaseema District Police, along with revenue officials, conducted a surprise raid on illegal sand mining operations along the Godavari riverbanks and seized several vehicles involved in unauthorized transportation of sand. The operation was carried out following complaints from local residents regarding large-scale illegal excavation activities.
During the raid, officials confiscated tractors, tipper vehicles, and earth-moving equipment allegedly being used for illegal sand extraction. Several individuals were taken into custody for questioning, and cases were registered under relevant sections of mining and environmental protection laws.
Authorities stated that illegal sand mining not only causes significant revenue loss to the government but also poses serious threats to river ecosystems and nearby agricultural lands. Officials have warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in unauthorized mining activities.
District officials emphasized their commitment to protecting natural resources and ensuring that mining activities are conducted only through legal channels. Further investigations are underway to identify the organizers and financiers behind the racket.
